When Mike Tyson was asked by a reporter whether he was worried about Evander Holyfield and his fight plan, he answered, “Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.”
How does this memorable quote relate to cybersecurity?
Many business leaders we meet with think they have a plan for cybersecurity. They think the tech team has a plan—or that the CxO has a plan. In short, they believe they are prepared and secure.
Unfortunately, that’s very rarely the case.
Over the past 12 months, we have conducted over 2500 security assessments, and our findings have been startling.
We’ve found too many IT support providers neglecting the “behind-the-scenes” tasks that you might not be paying attention to—or even aware of. These include backups, patching, and preventative maintenance. We’ve seen it over and over: when an outage occurs, it’s often because the IT team wasn’t keeping up.
