Escalation Engineer
Location: Ankeny, Iowa (In-Person) | Type: Full-Time | Team: Technical Services
Who We Are
Tier 3 Technology Solutions is a Managed IT and Cybersecurity firm based in Ankeny, Iowa. We protect the everyday heroes of local and regional businesses across the Midwest and South — the owners, operators, and teams that keep organizations running. We specialize in mid-size companies where the stakes are real, the environments are complex, and the work actually matters.
We grow deliberately. We hire people who are exceptional at their craft, take ownership seriously, and want to be part of a team that operates at a higher standard. If that describes you, keep reading.
The Role
The Escalation Engineer is our highest-level technical individual contributor. You are the last internal stop before a problem goes to a vendor or outside resource — and most of the time, you solve it before it gets there. You handle the cases that have stumped the rest of the team, lead our most complex client engagements, and set the technical standard for everyone around you.
This is not a reactive role. You rotate through every layer of our service delivery model — front-line support, scheduled work, and project delivery — on a 90-day cycle. That rotation keeps you connected to the client experience, raises first-touch resolution across the team, and ensures our most capable engineers are never siloed. You do not sit in one lane. You raise every lane you move through.
You also own outcomes. Performance at this level is tracked on the leadership scorecard. Your metrics are visible, your accountability is clear, and the expectation is that your numbers are green.
What You Will Do
-
Serve as the final technical escalation point for complex issues across the client base
-
Lead client onboarding and stabilization engagements — scoping, planning, and executing end-to-end
-
Execute infrastructure migrations, cloud deployments, and major technical projects
-
Rotate through all service delivery tiers on a 90-day cycle — front-line, scheduled work, and project delivery
-
Identify and document change orders — recognize scope growth and flag it before it becomes a problem
-
Contribute to QBRs and strategic technical planning conversations alongside the Client Success team
-
Mentor IT and Senior Engineers — share your reasoning, not just your solutions
-
Maintain and improve internal documentation and runbooks so your knowledge lives in the system, not just your head
-
Operate with a security-first mindset in every client environment — every decision accounts for risk
What You Bring
-
5+ years of MSP or enterprise IT experience with demonstrated project delivery capability
-
Deep expertise in Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, and hybrid identity environments
-
Strong networking fundamentals: VLANs, firewall rules, VPN, DNS/DHCP
-
Hands-on experience with enterprise security tooling — EDR, MDR, email security, or equivalent
-
Demonstrated ability to run a client engagement independently — scoping through delivery
-
The ability to explain complex technical problems clearly to non-technical business owners
-
A mentorship mindset — you measure your success in part by how much better the team is because of you
-
Ability to work in person at our Ankeny, Iowa office and travel to client sites as needed
Nice to Have
-
CompTIA Security+, Microsoft certifications (MD-102, AZ-104, SC-200), or equivalent
-
Experience with WatchGuard, CrowdStrike, Huntress, NinjaOne RMM, or HaloPSA
-
Familiarity with compliance frameworks: NIST, CIS Controls, HIPAA
-
Experience contributing to QBR or executive-level client conversations
Who Thrives Here
Our four core values are operational — they describe the people who succeed at Tier 3, not the aspirations we hang on a wall.

-
See It Through — You own the result, not just the task. The engagement is not done until the client's environment is better than you found it.
-
Own the Mess — When something goes sideways, even if it was not your fault, you step in and make it right.
-
Multiply the Team — Your knowledge becomes the team's knowledge. You build the people around you, not just the systems.
-
Lead With Love — You see the human being on the other side of every interaction and treat them with patience and respect, even under pressure.
Our Commitment to You
-
Competitive pay commensurate with experience
-
Health benefits
-
Paid time off
-
A structured 90-day onboarding system — built to set you up for success through hands-on coaching and process training
-
A defined career path — the Escalation Engineer seat is the stepping stone to Technical Services Director or the MSSP security track
-
A team that takes the work seriously and each other personally

We run one of the most thorough hiring processes in our industry on purpose. About 70% of applicants do not make it past the first step — not because they lack skills, but because they did not follow basic instructions. If someone cannot follow directions when applying for a job, they will not follow our documentation standards when working inside a client's critical systems. We take that seriously.
To apply, email your resume as a PDF to careers@gotier3.com. Your subject line must read exactly: Escalation Engineer Application – [Your Full Name]. In the body of your email, briefly describe the most complex technical problem you have ever solved and how you communicated the resolution to the client or your team. Applications that do not follow these instructions will not be reviewed. This is not bureaucracy. It is the first test.

Security Analyst I
Tier 3 Technology Solutions

Security Analyst I
Location: Ankeny, Iowa (In-Person) | Type: Full-Time | Team: Cybersecurity Services

Who We Are
Tier 3 Technology Solutions is a Managed IT and Cybersecurity firm based in Ankeny, Iowa. We protect the everyday heroes of local and regional businesses across the Midwest and South — the owners, operators, and teams that keep organizations running. Cybersecurity is not an add-on for us. It is the core of what we deliver and the reason our clients trust us with their most critical systems.
We are actively growing our security practice. If you are early in your security career and want to do real work — not simulations, not sandboxes — this is where you start.
The Role
The Security Analyst I is the entry point into our cybersecurity team. You will work directly under the direction of our senior security staff, executing SOC alert remediation from established runbooks, supporting vulnerability scanning activities, and owning the security awareness training platform across our client base.
This is a structured role with clear expectations and a defined path forward. You will not be thrown into the deep end without support — but you will be doing real security work from day one. Every alert you remediate, every training completion you track, and every finding you document contributes directly to the protection of the businesses that depend on us.
What You Will Do
-
Triage and remediate SOC alerts following established runbooks — document every action taken through to resolution
-
Support vulnerability scanning activities and assist with basic remediation tracking
-
Manage the security awareness training platform — configure programs, enroll users, monitor completion, and send non-compliance outreach
-
Track and report training compliance across the client base — surface non-compliance to the Client Success team with accurate data
-
Document all findings, actions, and outcomes in HaloPSA — clear notes that the next person can pick up without asking questions
-
Escalate appropriately — you know when something is outside your runbook and you do not hold it too long
-
Participate in tour of duty rotations as the team and your skills develop
What You Bring
-
CompTIA Security+ (required — or within 90 days of hire with a demonstrated plan)
-
1-2 years of IT support experience with some security exposure
-
Working familiarity with EDR concepts, email security platforms, and Microsoft 365 Security Center
-
The ability to follow a documented runbook independently and flag when it does not cover the situation
-
Clear written communication — your ticket notes need to be readable by the next person without a follow-up call
-
Ability to work in person at our Ankeny, Iowa office
Nice to Have
-
CySA+ in progress or planned
-
Hands-on exposure to CrowdStrike, Huntress, Proofpoint, or similar tools
-
Experience with security awareness training platforms
-
Familiarity with Microsoft Defender or Entra ID security features
Who Thrives Here
Our four core values are operational — they describe the people who succeed at Tier 3, not the aspirations we hang on a wall.
-
See It Through — An alert is not closed until the threat is addressed and the documentation is complete.
-
Own the Mess — When something goes wrong, you say so immediately and bring a plan, not an excuse.
-
Multiply the Team — You ask good questions, share what you learn, and make the people around you better.
-
Lead With Love — You understand that real businesses and real people depend on the work you do. That matters to you.
Our Commitment to You
-
Competitive pay commensurate with experience
-
Health benefits
-
Paid time off
-
A structured 90-day onboarding system — built to set you up for success through hands-on coaching and process training
-
A defined advancement path to Security Analyst II with clear milestones — this is not a dead-end seat
-
A team that takes the work seriously and each other personally

Security Analyst II
Location: Ankeny, Iowa (In-Person) | Type: Full-Time | Team: Cybersecurity Services
Who We Are
Tier 3 Technology Solutions is a Managed IT and Cybersecurity firm based in Ankeny, Iowa. We protect the everyday heroes of local and regional businesses across the Midwest and South — the owners, operators, and teams that keep organizations running. Cybersecurity is not an add-on for us. It is the core of what we deliver and the reason our clients trust us with their most critical systems.
We are actively building our MSSP practice. The Security Analyst II is the primary delivery role in that practice — the person who owns security operations across our client base and sets the standard the rest of the team works toward.
The Role
The Security Analyst II owns the security operational function. This is not a supervised execution role — you bring independent judgment, you own the outcomes, and you are accountable for what happens in your domain. SOC alerts do not age. Vulnerabilities get tracked to resolution. Client security posture improves because of the work you do.
You work closely with the vCSO function on client compliance programs and contribute directly to Quarterly Security Reviews alongside the Client Success team. You are the person Jeff can point a client toward for a security conversation without concern. That is the bar.
You also cross-train the Security Analyst I and own the process documentation that makes the security function rotation-ready. Your knowledge lives in the system, not just your head.
What You Will Do
-
Own SOC alert remediation end-to-end — independent triage, investigation, containment, and documentation with sound escalation judgment
-
Lead vulnerability management across the client base — scanning, prioritization, remediation tracking, and client-facing reporting
-
Conduct proactive threat hunting — actively look for what automated tools have not surfaced
-
Configure and manage the security stack across client environments — EDR, email security, MFA, DNS filtering, and related tools
-
Contribute to Quarterly Security Reviews with the Client Success team — translate findings into client-ready language
-
Support vCSO program work and client compliance engagements under the Cybersecurity Services Director
-
Cross-train and certify Security Analyst I staff on owned processes
-
Own security process documentation — if it cannot be handed to a qualified team member and run cleanly, it is not done
What You Bring
-
CompTIA CySA+ or equivalent (GCIA, GCIH, or Microsoft SC-200 accepted)
-
2-4 years of security operations experience with demonstrated independent ownership
-
Hands-on experience with CrowdStrike, Huntress, or equivalent EDR/MDR platforms
-
Demonstrated vulnerability management experience — scanning, prioritization, and client reporting
-
The ability to explain security findings clearly to non-technical business owners
-
Strong documentation discipline — your work creates the audit trail and the training foundation
-
Ability to work in person at our Ankeny, Iowa office
Nice to Have
-
Familiarity with NIST CSF, CIS Controls, HIPAA, or related compliance frameworks
-
Experience with Qualys, Proofpoint, AutoElevate, or similar MSP security tooling
-
Exposure to client-facing security reviews or executive-level security conversations
-
Experience supporting compliance program work
Who Thrives Here
Our four core values are operational — they describe the people who succeed at Tier 3, not the aspirations we hang on a wall.

-
See It Through — SOC alerts do not close themselves. Vulnerabilities do not track themselves. You own it until it is done.
-
Own the Mess — A security gap found on your watch is your problem to fix, not someone else's to inherit.
-
Multiply the Team — Your documentation and cross-training make the entire security function more resilient. Your knowledge outlives your role.
-
Lead With Love — The businesses you protect are real. The people depending on those systems are real. You treat that responsibility with the seriousness it deserves.
Our Commitment to You
-
Competitive pay commensurate with experience
-
Health benefits
-
Paid time off
-
A structured 90-day onboarding system — built to set you up for success through hands-on coaching and process training
-
A defined path toward the Cybersecurity Services Director seat as the MSSP practice scales — this role is the proving ground for that growth
-
A team that takes the work seriously and each other personally

Senior IT Engineer
Location: Ankeny, Iowa (In-Person) | Type: Full-Time | Team: Technical Services
Who We Are
Tier 3 Technology Solutions is a Managed IT and Cybersecurity firm based in Ankeny, Iowa. We protect the everyday heroes of local and regional businesses across the Midwest and South — the owners, operators, and teams that keep organizations running. We specialize in mid-size companies where the stakes are real, the environments are complex, and the work actually matters.
We are intentional about growth. We hire slowly, invest heavily in our people, and build systems that scale without losing what makes us different. If you are looking for a place where your skills are challenged, your growth is planned, and your work has direct impact — this is it.
The Role
The Senior IT Engineer is a force multiplier on our technical team. You rotate through every layer of our service delivery model — front-line support, scheduled work, and project delivery — on a 90-day cycle. This keeps senior knowledge close to the client experience, drives first-touch resolution rates up, and ensures no tier operates in isolation. You do not sit in one lane. You elevate every lane you move through.
Every 90 days, our senior engineers rotate through a front-line tour of duty. You will spend 90 days as the primary escalation point — visible, available, and accountable for what comes up the chain. This is not a punishment. It keeps our senior team sharp, connected to the client experience, and close to the problems our IT Engineers are solving every day.
What You Will Do
-
Own the scheduled work queue — complex issues escalated from IT Engineers that require deeper diagnosis and planned resolution
-
Own project delivery for complex technical work — scoping, planning, and executing to completion
-
Rotate through 90-day front-line tours of duty — staying connected to the client experience and driving first-touch resolution across the team
-
Mentor and coach IT Engineers — walk them through your reasoning, not just your solutions
-
Document everything — configurations, decisions, root causes, and next steps — in Hudu with precision
-
Manage server, virtualization, and advanced networking environments across our client base
-
Support Microsoft 365 administration, Entra ID, Intune, and hybrid identity environments
-
Participate actively in our security-first culture — flag risks, follow our security stack standards, and treat every environment as if it is under threat
-
Communicate clearly with clients during complex work — set expectations, provide updates, and close the loop professionally
What You Bring
-
3+ years of IT engineering or systems administration experience in a managed services or multi-client environment
-
Deep working knowledge of Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, and network fundamentals
-
Experience managing projects and scheduled work, not just reacting to tickets
-
Strong documentation discipline — you leave every environment better documented than you found it
-
The ability to explain complex problems in plain language to non-technical clients
-
A mentorship mindset — you build the people around you, not just the systems
-
Ability to work in person at our Ankeny, Iowa office and travel to client sites as needed
Nice to Have
-
CompTIA Network+, Security+, or Microsoft certifications (MS-900, AZ-900, MD-102)
-
Experience with NinjaOne RMM, HaloPSA, or similar MSP toolsets
-
Familiarity with virtualization (Hyper-V, VMware), backup platforms, and firewall administration (WatchGuard)
-
Experience with CrowdStrike, Huntress, or enterprise EDR platforms
